Mission Statement: “The mission of the Austintown Police Department is to improve the quality of life, uphold the law and protect the lives and property of every citizen. We will display honesty, integrity, dedication and professionalism while accomplishing our mission.”
Consists of 5 Divisions:
1. Administration - Chief Robert Gavalier is responsible for the departments operation and management. Captain Bryan Kloss, is responsible for the administration, direction, and coordination of each of the departments divisions 2. Communication – consists of the Dispatch Supervisor and 7 Dispatchers, answer 911 calls, track all Calls For Service, access LEADS and NCIC computer systems, relays information to other divisions, and assists public with issues 3. Detective – conducts in depth investigations, has 6 detectives assigned to crimes ranging from identity theft to homicide, 2 assigned to investigate juvenile crimes, 2 assigned to narcotics, and 1 assigned to D.A.R.E. 4. Patrol - 24/7: Consists of 29 officers, enforce township resolutions and state laws, protect life and property, conduct preliminary investigations and apprehension of criminals, 2 state and north american police work dog association certified patrol and narcotic canines, 1 canine also works with the Mahoning valley Violent Crimes Task Force 5. Support Services - Provide communications, record filing, information retrieval and other functions as directed by the Chief Of Police. Employ a Chief’s Secretary and 2 records secretaties to (1) computer entry of arrests warrants and care information, (2) word processing, (3) filing and maintaining records, (4) respond to telephone/public contacts, (5) process fingerprint cards, (6) process seized license plates/drivers licences, (7) file traffic citations/accidents, (8) maintain record security and (9) produce correspondence for administration
